Why I'm Voting Kinky

I'm a life-long republican. I worked my first campaign when I was 11, and have worked several since. Why would I not vote republican in this year's gubernatorial election?

I am sick and tired of seeing RINO's say one thing to get elected, and then do another once in office. This is happening with much, too much frequency lately. I want my voice to be heard, but no one seems to be listening.

So, we have a weak Governor in Texas. No, I'm not talking about Perry's chin or his convictions, I'm talking about the office. The Lt Gov (Don't make me go on about DoHurts) is where the real legislative power lies. Our governor is mostly for looks, which is a good reason not to vote for Carol Keeton Rylander McClellan Strayhorn Rosebud Petrie TenNames.

So, why am I against Perry enough to risk seeing a democrat in office?

Firstly, what makes you think Perry is a republican? He hasn't done anything to make him look like a republican other than putting an R in the parentheses after his name. He raised taxes, increased spending, and increased government intervention in our lives. That makes him a democrat.

Secondly, what difference will it make? See the preceding paragraph. If it looks like a democrat, raises taxes like a democrat, and invades your privacy like a democrat, don't call it a republican.

Thirdly, how else can we get the federal government to listen to us? If they don't feel personally threatened, then office holders will do as they damned-well please, and their constituents can just pay their taxes and shut up. So, if the largest Republican State can oust a sitting republican governor, then all republicans will feel threatened.... and start acting like republicans again.

Fourthly, Kinky can't do any worse.

Perry, you're in trouble if people like me feel like this... and I'm certain I'm not the only one.

You are within your rights to vote for whomever you wish...whether it be a vote of objection or rejection or one for the philosophy you believe in.

I once decided come polling day I would give 'a donkey vote', however, when the moment of truth came as I stood there in the booth, pencil in hand...my conscience wouldn't allow me to do it. I went along with my conscience and voted for the philosophy in which I believe. Granted, there are many politicians, the majority, no doubt, who don't live up to one's expectation of them, but that's life, isn't it? I'm a conservative voter and have been all my life...I could not, and still have a clear conscience, vote otherwise.

The point is that they aren't following their supposed philosophy, so what difference does it make?

They're all acting like democrats, so whom you vote for doesn't matter. The Kinky vote sends a message... that message is "Govern according to the platform, or else you're toast."

I guess you maybe right if, as mentioned in LST, the role of a Texas Governor is not that important and by voting for Kinky it's a show of disapproval in the national performance of the Republicans.

Each to his/her own, I guess...and that's why I could still not vote 'Liberal'...or Labor as it is in this country.

Lee, you are right. I cannot vote for liberals in national elections, however, a vote for Kinky in state government is a protest vote and one that I can see doing. The national elections are another thing. I would rather have a Rino in office than vote for a liberal. That is what Texans and a all conservatives must realize when you are dealing with national elections. You HAVE to vote Repulican or face a worse possibility - Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House. We simply cannot give the libs a chance to control national security. No matter how we hate the RINOs we elected. Sad, but true.
