The Recent Airplane Plot

Many people are saying that the new measures at airports will be inconvenient and will do nothing.

I'm going to draw on personal experience to offer my views. I travel frequently. I have been to over 50 different countries, and nearly all the States in the US.

For the last three years or so, I've been searched, poked, prodded, and had every item in my bags gone through quite thoroughly. All of my liquid and gel products, including chapstick, have been removed from my carry-on and placed in my checked baggage.

My only concern with the new measures is that they're going to make me check my laptop. This means I'll get zilch done on the flight. As I often have more than 20 hours of air-time during my trips, this means I'll lose at least a day's work, each time I travel. This is a real inconvenience, but better than being blown up. I guess I'll just have to live with it.

Yes...a small price to pay for your life, which is worth much more than any laptop...or two days' work. You'll just have to drink some good wine and catch up on your sleep! ;)

Yep... the sacrifices I have to make....

Did you know they use screwtops on airplanes? Specially bottled.

Actually, I agree with the practice of screwtops or synthetic corks. Many good wines have been ruined in the last ten years due to fungus in the natural cork.

What a shame!

The last time I flew they were using screw-tops here. So, I imagine they would on international flights.

I've got a few screw-tops here amongst natural and plastic corks. I still am a bit of a 'traditionalist' and enjoy popping my cork! ;)
