My Recent Absence

I don't normally talk about my personal life. In fact, I rarely do so. I would bet that even people who think they know me can't even tell what religion I am. Lee, you are probably the one exception to this, if anyone is. So, once again, you're out of the running before the race even starts.

Anyway, I've been in a severe depression for the last month or so. It is hard to tell when I'm depressed. Typically, I keep a happy countenance, regardless of my inner turmoil. Think of the old saw about the clown smiling on the outside while he's crying on the inside, for reference.

So, I've gone "switch off" for the last few weeks.

Yesterday, I snapped out of it, and am part of the human race again.

So, to catch you all up on the happenings at the HouViews Homestead, yesterday I finished the energy-upgrade on my house. I now have insulated walls, about 8 to 12 inches of insulation in the ceiling, a radiant barrier, and new duct work. I think my heater has turned house heating over to the computers and compressors I have running all over the place.

In fact, I think I'll go take a picture of my house to show you folks my humble abode.

SNAP

This is my dwelling.

You can't see my silver Jeep, to the right, as it's at the end of my driveway. You can't see the two oaks that it's parked under, either. What do you think of the paint colors? I've been really concerned about that since I did it. I've never seen a house with similar colors, and I'm afraid it might be considered inappropriate by some Home Owners Associations, though I've never received a letter.

At least it isn't torquoise and sienna.

I'm back, and sure to be my normal abnormal self once I get up and running. Right now, I'm calling my creditors and "making right" with them. I have figured out that paying what you owe them works. They don't need making right if you pay them WHEN you owe them, as well. Oh, well. I have their money already.

I also was one of the few who got a Sony Playstation 3. That's right. I gave it to my son in payment for him doing much of the aforementioned energy upgrades on my house. He says it's really cool. That's coming from a 19 year old college junior (in his second year, but has enough credits for Jr. status already), so you know it is a valid video console review. Maybe I'll have him write a bit of his opinion when I next talk to him.

Anyway, signing off, now. I'm going to get some work done around the house.

Welcome back, Don!

Who cares about any silly old 'Home Owners' Association'? There ain't nuttin' wrong with the colour combination! I've seen that blending down this way...so you're just ahead in the decorating field to the rest of 'them' up there! ;)

Have you had a go at that Play Station yet..."whack"! What a silly question! ;)

Inside paint is way down the road for me.

My next projects (in no particular order) are to re-roof while adding ridge vents, re-do my pantry (new addition, gained by some constructive re-siding), and then the back yard.

Note that interior paint didn't even make the "next" list.

The color scheme looks just fine.
I put a copy in my DIY folder for reference.

Among the many duties of Homeowner Associations, homogenization is close to the top of their list, good luck with the ba$tard$.

Lee, I checked my mail. You need to check yours.

Nat,

My HOA isn't as powerful as most in Houston. I don't think it has enforcement capabilities, like some of the little Hitlers around the county.

Anyway, I was just wondering if it looked weird or anything. Like I said, I think the combination of colors is all-but unique (except for a guy who copied it, and told me so, about 10 blocks away). I just don't like white trim (too blah), green trim (just don't like green), and black would look like a bumblebee. I barely avoided "cub scout" with the blue, anyway.

And no calls of envy about the PS3, or how I got it?

NO ONE who knows me would even consider that I'd stand outside a store waiting for hours or days to buy a toy.

I paid list for it (I'm cheap), too.

I already know how you got *it*, so I don't have to ask! But I will if you want me to, just so you can relate the story! ;)
