Pig Races in Katy, Texas

The crowd in attendance.
Last night, I went to the Pig Races that have been all over the News. As you can see, there were a few of us there.

I'd estimate about 300 people, total, but I could be off by anywhere from 300 to 1000 in that estimate. You can see about 70% of the crowd in that picture.

The contestants were eager to participate, as they got cookies at the end.

They're off!

But number 6 seemed to win in a disproportionate share of the races. I believe something is afoot, and I want the United States Pig Racing Commission to institute an investigation.

Number 6 wins yet again!

Pics are great...as are the pigs! It looks like a lot of fun. Maybe six is a lucky number for racing pigs!

PS...this is a lot of fun...not...I'm having problems posting my comment for some unknown reason...well, know to blogger, anyway!

Aah...finally...after a bit of a rigmarole! Did you change over to Beta?

It's not beta anymore. It's the real deal. I've not been excessively pleased with it, but I'm getting used to it.

I've lost more posts since switching that I had in total, previously.

I, too, suffered a few hiccups for a while...but they seem to be solved now...touch wood. Nothing extreme but just enough to make it frustrating...and I have little patience when things don't work as they should! In the end, I relent, take a deep breath or three...walk away and then everything gets back onto an even field.

Hey good pics. I told you the pink would win. LOL. I think you are right, we need a special prosecutor on this, I think it is rigged. Even though they changed the pink on different pigs. My granddaughter liked them anyway.

Are the pig races a closed event?
I know the lead up and it's off Baker Rd. but time, date, address.

This may sound cheeky, however, it's a 100 mile drive and would be no joy to fight traffic on the Katy for no pigs race. I mean really, is there any good reason to be in Houston anymore except for the money?

Or/and could I buy some tickets for local friends to attend

Nat,

Go to Americanpigrace.com for more info on the races, maps, etc. They are held every Friday. $5 for adults to cover expenses and anything collected over the amount of expenses is given to charity.

Here is the link to the races. I'm not sure if you can buy tickets for your friends. When I went last Friday they gave me a raffle like ticket when I entered but maybe someone can buy a bunch and pass them out before everyone goes to the races. Neocon will send the photos to me, thanks.

Why aren't the good folks of Katy TX taking advantage of the recent Supreme Court KELO decision?

The Baker family history with this land ironically provides the legal precedent to address the KIA property in favor of community economic development - not a segregated muslim enclave.

Quoting from the Baker website:

[The Baker] "family has deep roots here on Baker Rd. Houston, TX. As a matter of fact, a Baker has been living right on this land as far back as the early 1800’s. We are fast approaching 200 years being settled on this piece of land. The Baker family has not always found it easy living here. In the 1940's the Baker family lost most of its land to the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers through a process known as eminent domain. The land was worth approximately $150.00 per acre, the Bakers received $3.00 per acre. Back then, the government needed the property to create a reservoir for the sprawling metropolis of Houston, which was some twenty miles away. This reservoir would allow part of the Buffalo Bayou to be dammed off in certain situations to prevent the flooding of the entire city.

The KELO decision
[http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0geutt9aqJFLLMA3gdXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTE5cWhsZXNzBGNvbG8DZQRsA1dTMQRwb3MDMQRzZWMDc3IEdnRpZANNQVAwMThfMTI1/SIG=123re2hoe/EXP=1168358397/**http%3a//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelo_v._New_London]

does not require the government to take the property for government use. It allows for the transfer of land from one private owner to another to further economic development. The City of Katy must determine the best economic use of this property.

As Hugh Fitzgerald, the vice president of Jihadwatch.org often states,

"the Muslim presence that in the Lands of the Infidels has everywhere created a situation that for Infidels is much more unpleasant, much more expensive, and much more physically dangerous, than it would be without that large-scale presence."

Reading further at the Baker website, he mentions that the new neighbors informed him they would include added 'S-E-C-U-R-I-T-Y'. Why would they plan for added security - UNLESS -they are preparing to secure the KIA compound (aka anarchy) such as the youth secure territory in the banlieus of France? See this link if you are unfamiliar - 751 No Go Zones of France

The legal precedent for eminent domain is established. Clearly, it's in the interest of the current Katy community to encourage history to repeat itself - this time, against the KIA Community project.

Feeling the neighborly love yet?

Kelo, when I first heard about it, didn't sound like a bad decision.

Then I read it. I still find it hard to believe. Had it been a Constitutional Issue, it would surely have made my top three list. Just because it is from SCOTUS, doesn't make it Constitutional or not. Kelo was and is a travesty.

The KIA folks really messed up when they called Mr. Baker a liar. In Texas, those really are "fightin' words," as they'll find out.

I hope to be at this Friday's race, as well. I'll see about getting more pictures and maybe a video or two.

I concur . . .KELO is an awful decision but in this particular instance, I would make the exception to use it against KIA.

Recall that the new KIA neighbor informed Mr. Baker of the promise of increased security when security was never an issue prior to the existance of a segregated muslim enclave.

Again I stress the effect of increased muslim presence in French banlieues. Or Arab neighborhoods bordering beach towns - like Cronulla in Australia. Google Cronulla riots. . .or better yet, before this video is pulled, view the voracity of the neighborly peace initiation:

If you have any doubt as to potential trouble the youth associated with an islamic enclave can wreak . . .view this tape from Australia.

Don't let this happen to Katy TX.

We live in Katy and are interested in going to the Pig Races. The web site that you posted - Americanpigraces.com - is no longer up. Do you know where we can get information on when and where they area?

Anonymous,

That was Mr. Baker's website, not mine. The pig races are south of I10, off of Baker Road, between Fry and Barker Cypress. Just go from the west (east-bound feeder on the south side of the freeway).

You'll see Baker road. Just follow it south about 2 or three miles. The races are on Friday nights, starting at 6:00 pm.

Can someone tell me... do they sell bacon at the snack bar??? If I ever make it down there to the races I will want to buy fried bacon!!!
